Calos Tevez gives in a transfer request which is promptly rejected
posted @ 17:49 in [ Newcastle Utd ]

Last week I watched on Man City’s official site an interview with Carlos Tevez about him being quite happy at City, etc. and to read this morning that he handed in a transfer request to Mr. Cook (CEO at City) is quite astonishing? Did something happen in the meantime with regard to his family, his agent or his mind?

Shay improving by the day!
posted @ 11:02 in [ Newcastle Utd ]

When Shay was asked about his latest injury setback, you have to give him credit for putting things in perspective, saying …

““I’ve had a punctured bowel in the past, so dislocating my shoulder was like having a tooth filled in by comparison! I’ve had pain before, it’s part and parcel of football and it’s about how you deal with it.” (more…)

Germany 4:1 England: Who would’ve thought this scoreline?
posted @ 10:42 in [ Newcastle Utd -World Cup ]

It is from a German point of view a dream to put in a 4:1 scoreline against any team in any competition, but to do so against England, your arch rivals is something that nobody on German soil could’ve dreamt of. Even Angela Merkel (Germany’s leading lady) came out from G8 to make a “Congratulations and keep it going” speech to the press. I said to my wife after the game “It’s more than just football”. There were convoys of cars going around our town for hours after the game here in Germany, wondering how we put 4 goals past an English defence. (more…)

Germany versus England – 1966 revisited?
posted @ 15:41 in [ Newcastle Utd -World Cup ]

Lots will be written and talked about between now and Sunday. What a game. I kind of hoped for a England / Germany final, but that of course was never to be in the way the groups were laid out. Pity. It could’ve gotten 1966 out of the system once and for all.
