The curtain came down on Shay’s time with Middlesbrough FC on Saturday with a 0:0 draw with Leeds Utd. and another clean sheet to walk away with, but there wasn’t too much consolation for Shay, as he would’ve dearly loved to extend his stay, but it wasn’t going to happen. Shay wrote on Twitter: “Thanks to all the staff, players & fans @Boro Best of luck to all at the club for the future. I really enjoyed my time there”. The fans were great to Shay and as he asked on his arrival, judged him on his performances on the pitch and not on the past or reputation. The Boro got to see why Shay was voted into the ‘Premiership Team of the Year’ twice and in the running for the ‘Save of the Decade’, etc. as he pulled off a few ‘Worldies’ in his time at the Boro. Here’s hoping Shay gets another bite at the cherry at the latest in the Summer. He’s hungry for more!
