Shay and Ireland land France in the playoffs!S
posted @ 14:42 in [ Newcastle Utd ]

Ireland have the pleasure of hosting former World Cup winners France on the 14th of November in Dublin for the first leg of the play-offs. It never was going to be easy with Italy in the group but facing the challenge of two recent World Cup winners in the fight for South-Africa is quite a challenge for the men in green but they’ve never wanted to do things the easy way and I’m sure France will know it’s no picnic picking up points against Ireland especially when South-Africa is at stake.

As a Scotland fan (whose team wasn’t good enough being honest) I would still say that most football tcompettitions are rigged against smaller teams/countries. At the end of the day FIFA and UEFA want money and countries /teams with big populations gets you that-hence teams which have done nothing for years get seeded and also ran teams from big leagues get places in the Champions league and a bye into the Europa league if they fluff that in the earlier stages.
