Shay and City make a great start to the new season with a 0:2 win over Blackburn Rovers

Any new start is scary and brings with it the usual nerves which Moyes at Everton can vouch for with Arsenal thumping them 1:6 at Goodison Part. If that game had’ve taken place later in the year, the scoreline would for sure be a more modest one.

Man City travelled to Blackburn to face football science guru ‘Sam Allardyce’ and his well prepared Blackburn side. All eyes were on City despite what some managers are saying and how will the new squad fare at their first Premiership hurdle especially away from home and their abysmal away from home form last season.

Sam was full of praise for Shay saying: “The game has left me really disappointed because I don’t think we deserved that from the performance, but we have ourselves to blame, or the brilliance of Shay Given I suppose because we did make him make a number of really top class saves today.

“It wasn’t our day in terms of converting those chances into goals.”

Emmanuel Adebayor finished in the third minute with such conviction that you feel his move from Arsenal has reinvigorated him and that he wants to show how wrong Arsenal were in selling him so easily. All new signings made their value known with Barry, Toure and Tevez when he came on showing City are a team to be reckoned with.

It will of course take time to gel and Mark Hughes will say that he’s not finished signing folks yet, so we’ll see who will come to Manchester yet. The 6,000 City supporters had plenty to shout about and Shay didn’t disappoint with a ‘Man of the Match’ display.

Well done City, well done Shay!! :-)
