Michael Owen off to Manchester
posted @ 10:54 in [ Newcastle Utd ]

It could be a headline to grab folks attention, but he’s not off to City but to Man United. I spoke to Shay about Michael Owen and his verdict was the guy will score goals wherever he goes, all he needs are chances.

I would go along with that. If Michael stays fit, he’ll get chances playing for the Champions and they’ll be a load of clubs thinking “Hang on, why didn’t we sign him?”.

I mean seriously if Michael Owen is playing regularly for a good team who are providing chances, he’ll turn in perhaps even more than 20 goals a season.

I think it’s a risk that Man Utd. have calculated and believe worth taking. Owen is only 29 and will be VERY hungry to prove every critic wrong.

It seems he has a lot of folks writing him off every time he plays or doesn’t play.

I don’t quite get why the British press wants to write off one of their all-time top strikers.

They should be giving him a lift-up. That’s exactly what Alex Ferguson is doing, giving Michael a boost to confidence by bringing him to the Champions and believing in him again. He will return that faith with goals.

The only thing standing in the way of Michael Owen getting loads of goals for Man Utd. is fitness and injuries.

All the best Michael for this new chapter.

I met Michael once at Newcastle’s training ground and thought he was a great down to earth professional, a guy that won’t be in the press for the wrong reasons.

I find it very intriging to see how his fitness and confidence will grow going into this HUGE new challenge.

There might be a lot of clubs wishing they’d hadn’t written him off. :-)

What do you think? Hit or miss? Are you someone who writes Owen off or thinks he needs a new chance to prove himself? Give us your comments at the end of this article or answer our ‘opinion poll’ at the right hand side of this blog.

I’m a Newcastle fan and to be honest I’ll be glad to see the back of him! He had a face like a slapped a**e all season as it was totally clear he didn’t want to be at the toon! Huge wages and virtually permanently injured – what a waste of money he was for us! He’s had his day! DC
