Ronaldo has finally been sold to his dream club Real Madrid. Hard to believe that Sir Alex didn’t put up much of a fight due to what I believe are a few factors that brewed together make for an envitable sale:
- Ronaldo felt even last year that his time was up at Man Utd. having won everything there is to win
- Sir Alex probably convinced Ronaldo to stay one last season last Summer and promised him if the right money was on the table, he would grant his wish to go
- Ronaldo wants to go back “home”. Let’s not forget his roots and he’s be way closer to Mummy down in Spain than in Manchester
- Real Madrid need to rekindle the glory years and what better way to do that than bringing in Kaka, Ronaldo, Villa. They’re like a wounded animal since the Zidane era ended and have been humiliated this year at the hands of rivals Barca. They’ll buy only the world’s greatest and they seem to have done that again
- There seemed to be tension in Ronaldo’s game this year where you thought at times his mind was in Spain and other things, but he still scored an incredible 26 goals
Yes I do think he will be hard to replace. I thought when Ronaldo was on form, he was in a class of his own. Each of the top players bring a certain individual flair and Ronaldo’s tricks, flicks, shots, dummies, passes were sublime when he was on top form. I think he’ll go to Spain hungry to show the £80 million was a bargain basement price for the ‘World Player of the Year’.
I don’t think you can replace Ronaldo. A lot of fans are trying to write Ronaldo off as “Good riddance, we’ll be mighty fine without you”, but I think I will miss the sparkle and the unnessesary tricks that brought the entertainment back to the game. It’s not just about winning a game in my opinion, I like to see clubs do it with style and Ronaldo has plenty of that with the ball at his feet. Sure, he’s immature and has a lot of maturing to do still but he does have bags of ability. The Premiership will miss him. I sure will.
No Ronaldo and no Newcastle. What else is there in store for us?
What’s your thoughts on Ronaldo? You either love him or hate him. I really like the style, flair and cheekiness he brought to the Premiership. He’s a big loss on a Match of the Day night and £80 million will seem like loose change to Man Utd. when they realize their ‘World Player of the Year’ has left the building!

I guess he did lose interest in playing for Man Utd. and in the Premiership. He’s been eying a move to Spain for quite some time. At least Utd. fans will have seen it coming for quite a while. A man than scored though 26 goals in an ‘off-year’ will be hard to replace regardless.

He’s only going to be earning £556,000 a week!

I think for Ronaldo, it’s the next step in his career and probably his last MAJOR step perhaps. If Madrid do well, he’ll sign his whole career off to them as he’s have all the backing from his family that seemed to be lacking living in Manchester. Whether folks liked Ronaldo or not, his skills will be sorely missed in my opinion.

Interesting to hear Shay talking about Newcastle in an interview today and referring to them as ‘We’ before quickly changing it to ‘they!’ You can take the boy out of Newcastle……….!!!
