The season’s over for Shay after another three points against Bolton to leave City in 10th place. It’s been an interesting season for Shay.
Newcastle have been relegated which is still hard to believe and it will be strange to not see their name in the fixture’s list for next year. I think we speak for Shay and everyone connected to Shay-Given.com that we would’ve loved to see Newcastle survive and rebuild things for next season and I thought Alan Shearer would pull it off, but as some fans in Newcaslte would say the damage and errors go back years to when perhaps they sacked Sir Bobby Robson for a sluggish start in the Premiership.
It will be great to see them come right back up and we wish them all the best for the planning of 2009/2010.
Man City also have their homework cutout for them this summer in finding the proper players to bolster the squad and hit that European top-7 finish.
Well done to Man Utd. on winning the Premiership and returning to the Champions League final as well.
Now we basically spend the summer suffering silently at the speculation that will hit the daily papers as to whose coming to City, etc. It will be entertaining for sure.
Shay is not on holidays yet but will be competing with Ireland starting with a friendly on Friday against Nigeria at Craven Cottage. It will be an interesting encounter with 2 very different styles of football colliding.
Upcoming Ireland World Cup Qualifier:
FIFA World Cup Group Eight qualifier against Bulgaria in Sofia on Saturday, June 6 (kick-off 8.30pm, local time)
