That’s the verdict and high opinion Joe Kinnear has of Shay and although we’d agree with the statement being as biased as one can be, it seems that more than just Joe and ourselves believe that Shay is consistently the best performer. (more…)

I remember Shay’s Dad once tell a story about his own goalkeeping heroics with the story going something like:
“We were beaten 7:1 but I was carried off the pitch as a hero because (more…)
AFTER a month in which he kept three clean sheets it is little surprise that Shay has been awarded the Carling Player of the Month award for November. The award (more…)
As I was at the game myself, it was interesting to read and listen to the comments made about the game afterwards and compare them with my own. I genuinely felt that the first goal (more…)
“I think the Tottenham thing is just speculation. That club has spent seven or eight million pounds on a goalkeeper already so I don’t think they’re going to spend any more on a goalkeeper. It’s purely speculation and talk in the papers – I’m sure that when Gomes gets his confidence back he’ll be a very, very good goalkeeper again. I wouldn’t want to leave Newcastle anyway, I’m very happy where I’m at.”
About the latest bout of clean sheets, Shay says:
“We’ve improved hugely in the defence and that’s a good thing for us and bodes well. You look at the last two games and we’ve kept clean sheets in away games and that’s the kind of base that you need to build on.
“We’ve not won games but we’ll take some consolation from the clean sheets. The defence has looked good. I’ve not had too much to do in the last game and that’s a credit to them.”
The Sun Newspaper have put together their 10 best goalkeepers in the Premiership. They’ve got Shay at number 3 which is very impressive, but we’d of course have moved him to NUMBER ONE! What do you think: “Should Shay be the Number ONE”. If you’re answer is ‘OF COURSE’, just write us a comment below on the comment section here and we’ll publish your thoughts on this one.
It was always going to be interesting to see the events of a local derby unravel, but there didn’t seem to be too much spark around this one. Shay did his bit as did the whole defence to keep Middlesbrough at bay and deservedly got a point although 3 points are always sweeter. If we get one point from every game from now till the end, we should stay up, although nobody at Newcastle wants that kind of season. Let’s get a run of wins and push for the top half of the table… easier said than done, but on the back of 2 clean sheets, there must be goals to be had soon!
