With all the doom and gloom around Newcastle these days, it’s nice to report that WEST Ham will be without star striker Dean Ashton for Saturday’s clash with Newcastle. That won’t make the task much easier but it might mean that West Ham have less fire-power against Shay than they normally would have. Let’s go for all three points guys!
It seems that there’s more ‘off-field’ talk about Newcastle than ‘on-field’ which is understandable given the current situation the club is in. But knowing Shay, he will be focussing his energy and talent on the upcoming three points fight with West Ham on Saturday. What do you think about it? Can Newcastle settle down and pull off the three points? Are you optimistic or pessimistic about it all?
Team Given began 4 years ago when Shay (who works with MacMillan Cancer Support in the North East – mainly because of Mum Agnes’ death from cancer in 1981) decided that since he wasn’t allowed to run the Great North Run (GNR) by his football club, Newcastle United, instead volunteered his brothers and sisters to do it for him. Since then the team has evolved is now constituted by immediate family, cousins, partners and friends. Read more here
After reading the statement from Mike Ashley on Newcastle’s Website, it seems Newcastle now have to wait and see if there is such a multi-billionaire interested in Newcastle Utd.
It was always going to be a tough day at the office with a lot of supporters protesting the events of Kevin Keegan’s departure and that’s what it was. A tough day. (more…)

I don’t think this is likely to happen, but Giovanni Trappatoni (Ireland’s manager) says: “I would recommend Italian clubs to buy Shay Given from Newcastle. He resembles Gianluigi Buffon, and I am not exaggerating when I say this. He is a born goalkeeper, and there is a vacancy for players like this in Serie A.”
“I’m delighted we won the game, though a bit annoyed that they scored a goal and we’re lucky that it didn’t cost us some points. In the past, late goals cost us points which stopped us from qualifying, so it’s good that we came away with the win.
