Bring on the penalties

Goakkeeping coach Paul Barron reckons Shay’s up for another penalty save as Shay has had three penalties against him in three games in a row … against Bolton Wanderers, Arsenal and Hull City.

He saved one – from Bolton captain Kevin Nolan – and came close to stopping Arsenal’s Emmanuel Adebayor and Hull City’s Marlon King from the spot.

Barron added: “He was unlucky with the penalty last Saturday, but at the moment, it looks like Shay fancies his chances against anyone.”

Barron also added that it will be a return to the ground that saw Shay on the receiving end of the worst injury of his career: “Shay came back super fit for the start of this season and, touch wood, he will stay that way. He looks as good as he has ever looked.”
