Shay man of the match against Albania
Against a tenacious Albanian team, Ireland got a draw that perhaps they should be very grateful for. Well done Shay on pulling off some world-class stops or as he would put it some "worldies"

Albanians on $150,000 bonus to win
The Albanian Prime Minister insists that $150,000 will go to the Albanian team if they can overcome Ireland this afternoon. That's like giving promising a vegetarian a meat-free world. The stadium with a 20,000 capacity is of course sold-out and the black market for tickets booming. It will be a MIGHTY win this afternoon if Ireland can overcome the home team on home turf.

After gladly boarding the flight inTbilisi yesterday, the Irish team expected worse conditions in Tirana, but were pleasantly surprised by the buzz of activity, bars, restaurants, cranes for building sites, etc. yes Albania has changed a lot in 10 years making Georgia seem decades behind. Barca want to compete, Newcastle want to win
It mightn't be a stroll around the park tonight, as Barcelona will want to finish well. If Newcastle get the three points, they'll have deserved it. I'll settle for a 1:0 for Newcastle. Webmaster

Could it be our year?
With Arsenal dropping all points at the weekend, Man Utd. still to come to St. James and Man Utd. still to play Arsenal, really anything is possible. While everyone seems content to talk about a two-horse race, Newcastle are content at third with really anything still possible. I have to say, I'd be glad with another Champions League spot but it sure would be a surprise end to a great season to pip Arsenal and Man Utd. to the title. Folks, anythings possible.

Shay will play in Milan
Shay's Dad, a goalkeeper of some note himself, would manys a time have had
to tape his little finger to the others to play in games, following decapitating tackles from burly Donegal centre forwards. To this day Shay's Dad has a right hand like a cow's udder as living testament to this. His son Shay will play against Inter Milan tomorrow evening with a sore finger from training, but nothing so bad that a little bit of cellotape won't do the trick. Read a preview of Tuesdays nights game here
